The objective of the symposium is to elaborate on relevant case studies, including in situ discussions, with
a focus on multifaceted experiences in negotiating the research design, objectives, and
methodologies in order to overcome the significant interdisciplinary barriers in urban research.
Building on the lessons drawn from the analysis conducted in Delft, methodological considerations
for enabling interdiscipinarity in urban research will be the focus of this symposium. The outcome
will be an advanced framework embracing considerations on methods – across disciplines and practices – potentially enabling interdisciplinarity in urban studies.
1st Cyprus Mobilisation and Mutual Learning Workshop 22-23 Nov 2016
"Tourism provides income but also destroys the values that brought it to Cyprus – How can we preserve both?"
The Cyprus Mobilisation and Mutual Learning (MML) Workshop is one of 32 European MMLs organised by MARINA partners all over Europe. During November 2016 and January 2017 more than 300 Europeans were consulted on marine issues and what action plans are needed to resolve them through collaboration. This is part of creating awareness about Responsible Research and Innovation, the EU-initiative of actively involving society in research and innovation processes for resolving complex societal issues such as ocean pollution, food security, renewable energy.
The Cyprus MML workshop tackled the issue of Sustainable Tourism in Cyprus as the island is reaching more than 2,5 million tourists per year and not only it must provide for the best service but also to preserve the natural and historical heritage that attract it.
The Cyprus MML workshop created a concrete roadmap for actions.
